Hey Guys,
My 1 year old like new tranny was slipping, so I checked the fluid which was about empty. Ouch, After I put tranny fluid and the car shifted fine. Put the car away and came back 4 to 6 weeks later to find A big tranny fluid stain under the middle of the car.I was too discussed to jack up the car and really check. The car stays at my friends house. A better address than I have. I have never removed the pan so the gasket should be good. I am hoping this will not be a major production and the tranny has to come out? How much of a deal is this. Thanks in advance. Brian.

Brian,
Check the area where the transmission dipstick inserts into the tranny. |

Brian, Welcome to the club! That same thing happened to me about 6 months ago ( Tranny fluid all over the garage floor!) and I finally figured what the problem was the other day. It turns out that the leak is coming from the hole for the kickdown cable. I am going to try and fix it this weekend. Chances are that yours is doing the same thing.
Time to break out the silicone!!!

I suggest you clean the entire area , pan , shifter lever shaft seal, shift cable boot area , trans cooler lines area and front pump seal area ( have to remove the dust pan) . To really get the oil off , you can use some spray on brake cleaner fluid, dries fast . Then drive it and recheck.. Do not use silicone sealer on transmissions. Thats one thing that AT fluid will go thru.
I have yet to see any sealer that will bond this with AT fluid,, Need good gaskets and seals. If it has anything to do with pipe threads, use teflon paste.

Great ideas guys. We went to clean out the garage today so I had to move the car. 60 degrees in January in NY is a fluke. The fluid must have evaporated into the cement because it was gone. I let the car warm up and checked the fluid. it was in the middle of the grated full area between the hot and cold. I am going to try to get up there tomorow and jack it up to see the deal. Is it possible I overfilled it? Thanks for the help. Brian
