i certainly will need help with this one anybody put a convertible floor and trunk in yet. and if so have you used a coupe floor and or trunk.
because the shock towers seem to be staggerd on a convertible. although i am useing a 67 trunk and floor pan for the job my converible is a 68 any ideas. or pics i think the fllor is the same but the trunk near the shock towers seems different. eman,
the shock configuration is different for 67 and 68. You should probably look for a 67 trunk pan or will be resigned to modifying the shock configuration. Rob

If you haven't cut that 67 up, you're be ahead of the game to sell that car, and buy all new floor and trunk pans, even with the 68 shock tower repair panel you could have all new metal for around $700.
The convertible floor does have extra bracing under the rear seat, in addition to the obvious extra braces that are (should be) under your convertible where the X-Brace bolts up. Those panels are also availabe new.

ok, i would like to but i got the body for free. and the only thing there is the lower half of car. no roof, or pillers half qtrs beat to hell. just lower half.
so to sell may be a bigger problem then doing the mods. because all my braces are still intact on convertible. but your idea is pretty nice. i also have a nice 69 floor and trunk lower half of car only it seems they where both wrecked cars, and roof doners, but real solid rust free floors and trunks and cowl areas i am in cali desert. thank you for your info though. maybe i can sell both and make a good enough deal to buy all the parts i need. |

I'm installing a repro trunk pan in my '69 coupe now. Last night I removed the cocktail shaker mounting plates that came attached to the trunk pan. Does your coupe trunk pan have these? did they come on your year camaro.

YES..!
I understand and have felt your pain.. (you'll like these pics) The '68 full trunk pan is a combination of the '67 and '69. I couldn't find anyone who sold the '68, or many who understood the difference. Depending on what you have to work with, the modifications are rather easy. You could buy a '67 and '69, cut them down the middle and make a '68. I was lazy, and just happened to have a good staggered tower. I bought a '67 trunk pan, cut out the inline shock tower, and welded in the original staggered tower. There is a difference in the hump where the convertible top compressor sits inside the rear seatback. Depending on your donor parts, you can fab it, or weld around it like I did.. There is a little hump in the pan above the rear-axle, and another on the backside of the rear seat. (see pics) ![]() ![]() Check out the other pics on my website. I welded new rear frame-rails to "sub-frame connectors" making a solid frame. New floorpan and trunk pan. Let me know if you have any questions. Last edited by Ghostbuster; Feb 3rd, 06 at 10:34 PM. |

I just completed replacing the full trunk pan in my 68 using the 67 full pan. To use that pan will also require seperating the cross over support from your old pan as well as the new one..because of the shock tower configuration. I hope you understand what I'm talking about.
Good Luck

Dynacorn is set to release a direct 68 trunk floor replacement this year.
As for the floor. I think the full replacement floor comes with the extra braceing in it. I just replaced mine and ther were extra bracing along the floor. So far iv replaced. Full Inner and outer rocker panels and inner supports Full 1 peice floor. Full replacement firewall. Inner and outer wheelhouses. Full quarter Panels Upper rear body panel. Iv resurfaced the sub frame body mounts and welded all the seams. I will be ordering a new 1 peice roof panel this week, Check out my photos. http://community.webshots.com/user/bigstick1973 |
