Question bbc 454 compatibility

I have a little issue that I am trying would appreciat some help with. I am building my first big block. I want to manke it look semi stock in apperance but move. First I aquired a set of 990 rectangular port heads with 2.25 and I believe 1.90 exhaust all ported from my local machine shop. I know have a chance to get a fully assembled stroked 454 studed 4 bolt main block. Heres my problem it is a newer 14015445. I looked at the head gaskets and they call for the mark 4 and 5 to have diffrent head gaskets. if those are diffrent will this combo work for me.

All that I'm aware of on the newer 454 or 502 blocks is that they are non mechanical fuel pumps. You might also post this over at the team chevelle site for answer too.

Won't work because of water jacket redesign results in water leak with Gen V-VI block and Gen IV production heads. Aftermarket heads have addressed this issue and will work with either block. Also rectangular port HiPerf heads will not generate as much horsepower or torque as will the round Pass heads.

ru,
As far as I know that block is the earlier design and should work fine. Have your machine shop show you how to tell the difference in the blocks before you go to look at it. I think it will be ok.

Casting number 14096188 or 6272990. Can not be used on Gen V engines because of upper water hole alignment.

14015445 is a 78 - 90 model head.

Your casting number is a Mark IV - matches your heads, you will be good to go.

Thanks for your guys help I passed on the motor anyways as I turned the engine with a ratchet and saw a pretty big groove it that he was tryinng to hide by putting that piston all the way up. I guess you have to be careful even when your dealing with an old timer
