Question

Is there any way to tell if your getting a real NOS fender?I have heard they stamped them with date codes. If true, were would this be. I am working on a 67 rs/ss and wonted to get NOS fenders, I have a pair I am going to look at and the price seems good.Any help would be appreciated.

I do know that my left front fender on my Gran Sport was replaced when it was only about two years old. It has a part number tag spot welded on it in the hood jamb area.

I bought a NOS fender for a 67 RS from a chevy dealership, all it had was a GM sticker on the inside of it with a part # which is gone now. I didn't notice a stamped #.

The date codes are in different area's. But on a fender it would be on the part that is under the hood so it shouldn't be too hard to find. Take a good look at the spot welds. On some repros I noticed the diameter of the spot welds are smaller than the GM ones

Chevrolet stampings (hood, fenders, header) had no date codes; Fisher body major stampings had 2-digit "run numbers" stamped in them that indicated the week of the model year they were stamped.
