I don't have a question, just sharing a camaro story.
I bought my car last summer. The car was supposed to be a 68 SS396, four speed, 12 bolt posi car. Everything pointed to that being correct except original motor, trans or real documentation. Came with both front and back black plates. Anyway, I contacted the guy who owned my car since 1978. He in turn contacted the guy he bought it from somehow. Bottom line: The guy sent me two pics from the 70's showing the car in faded out Corvette Bronze, bumblebee stripe extended down the side with SS hood and emblems. The best part was it had the plate showing in the picture. This was a good day. No protect o plate or build sheet yet but this sure helps. |

Thats great that you had a good experience with the past owners. I had a car once and was messing with a power window motor and had removed the door panel. On the back side of the panel was a nice note..."enjoy the car"... from a former owner including his name and phone number. It had been written almost fifteen years earlier and I rang him up and had a nice conversation with him about the car. I've been doing the same on my projects since then.

Yes, this previous owner has been helpful. I believe the only reason I even got this car is it was kind of disguised and hidden for many years.
The car was painted yellow, shaved and bondoed all the emblems on the car. I guess SS didn't mean too much back in the 70's. Sat in his garage non-opt all but two years from 1980-1994 documented with 22k miles. I like the hidden note idea. Although I have the mindset that the car isn't going anywhere. |

I'd like to but It is a hard copy and I don't have a scanner. I'll see about borrowing one from a friend.
