I am in the process of completly restoring my front subframe. After calculating all the parts, power steering kit, power disc kit, polyurethane kit, front rebuild kit, and powercoating it REALLY ADDS UP!! Im wondering if there is a more modern subframe kit I can just buy, roll under and bolt up?? Ive seen some with corvette suspension etc, but im lookin for a more modern or complete kist for around $2500 is there any out there?

I just finished doing what curtis26 is talking about and from what I saw on the post by 67 L-35...here it comes...If I had it to do all over again,moneywise and timewise I would definetly go that route instead of doing my own

Here is my list, feel free to correct me or point me in the right direction based off this

Power Disc brake kit complete (ebay) $600
New eibach springs (summit) $140
New PS box quick ratio (kragen) $200
Complete poly rebuild kit (pst) $400

Give or take a few hundred bucks here and there I see this as a pretty good "BUDGET" buildup. I have the cash to buy the other kit but the only road racing this 67 will see is maybe out running the local authorities...haha and the 1/4 mile. I dunno if it would make that much of a difference to me to shell out the extra 1500 plus for this other kit on top of buying other needed things for this so called "bolt in" kit?

Mine was more like $2800,it seems alot more falls in the"give or take a few hundred bucks" category than you might think. I would think you could find a stock or close to stock subframe unit that might be cheaper,and how much is your time worth,how much time do you have...with my schedule it took 8 months to do what your talking about,between ordering,shipping time,taking stuff apart ,cleaning,painting etc etc etc I didnt have the time to commit to it 100% so it took a while...just my experience but something to consider

Yah there are a lot of variables when it comes to the brake category. My 67 was manual drums and steering completley shot. I tore the whole suspension apart in a lil over a hour my car doesnt have an engine in it yet so it was pretty easy. I think i can have all parts sandblasted in a few hours and powdercoated withing days of that according to the shop. I will be waiting on parts for about a week at the most and putting it all together shouldnt take me more than a day. Im not married, dont have kids, and have quite a bit of free time to work on it but your right time and busted knuckles is still money!!! Keep in mind too this is a Budget rebuild just to get things pretty much stock but new with power disc and steering and the exception of the eibach springs. If I was gonna go tube a-arms and Baer brakes etc it would make great sense to so with a new setup for over 3k. Im just scared like ive read before these bolt in kits often require more that just that. (ex. custom headers that have to be bought through them) etc etc.........

Well,not having kids is a big plus with your time,so why not do it yourself. My time was certainly limited,married,kidsand self employed so I'm never really "off "work. Couple of things though,I converted from drum to front non-powered disc,a little cheaper and I like the feel of them over power and yes they will throw you throw the windshield when you go to stop.Also ,I did a budget rebuild about 15 years ago on mine and I'm in the middle of a frame off now,I wish 15years ago I had done a little more then than now,spcifically in the drivetrain and left the cosmetic end of things for later...If I had gotten the rearend,trans,engine and subfreames like I wanted them then vs now I would have saved alot of time and MONEY!,the stuff just keeps going up

I see frames for our camaros that are also for an Apollo. anyone know for certain if theya ctually interchange as advertised on Ebay???

there is a link on the page prior to this one and they were talking about sub frame interchangability...may wanna take a look but they're saying nova ventura and apollo all interchange
