Default Leaking th350

I had no leaks at all until I changed the tailshaft and speedo gears. After I added fluid it started leaking, and from up front, not from tailshaft. I haven't pinpointed leak yet, but does anyone have a good place to look? The pan bolts were all loose, but like I said it didn't leak before. So I tighted bolts. Any reason why adding fluid would start a leak?

Check the area around the cooler lines and where the throttle valve cable goes into the case. These are notorious for leaks. It could be the front seal as well. I don't really have any thoughts on why it started leaking when there were no leaks before. Was it low on fluid before you changed the gears? It isn't overfilled by any chance, is it?

I lost at least 4qt's I think while tailshaft was off. It just kept draining out over about a week's time. Front seal around tc is all dry. Fluid is all over the place otherwise. I cleaned it all off and Im gonna go start it up and look under there for it.

Don't guess on how much fluid you lost through the tail housing. You do not want to over fill your transmission because it can cause more damage than not having enough fluid like blowing a seal or two. If you over filled the transmission, the only why to bring the fluid back to level is drop the pan or let some out via the drain plug (if your pan has one). After you feel comfortable with the level, start the car and let it warm up a bit and check the trans fluid level with the car running. It should be right on the full mark.

Tomorrow I'm gonna let out some fluid through drain plug and see what the level is at after it warms up. I was wondering if maybe its overfull, I cant pinpoint a leak anywhere.

Well I let some fluid out and so far not a single leak. Its weird how a little too much fluid will cause such a leak.
