I've got the interior of my 69 in about 10,000 pieces and I'm ready to start putting it back together. I want to make sure it's re-assembled tight so I don't have a million squeaks, rattles, and vibrating parts. Anybody know good tricks for keeping things quiet? Obviously making sure everthing is snug is a good start, but are there other tricks I might want to know? I've got a really vicious 406 SB up front and 3" dual exhaust, so making sure everything is strapped down is especially critical.

Shawn,

Hopefully this isn't going to shock you but a 406 with 3" exhaust will be rather noisy so don't expect a Cadillac ride. To minimize the annoying stuff, just be sure to use all the correct size bolts during re-assembly, replace weatherstips and adjust the windows for proper sealing, don't leave any holes in your firewall, use hood insulation, run a continuous piece of jute padding from your rear deck to your front seats, Dynomat your floorboards and finally get a really big power amp for your stereo.

if you need new holes for self taping screws, do not drill!!!!
Use an ice pick / awl and punch a new hole this folds the metal down and gives you more metal for the screw to grip.
If existing holes are too large try some silicon, or tape on the screw.
