Get the one that notifies you on a keychain or calls you cell phone. These days most people ignore car alarms.

How many car alarms have you checked when you heard one going off?

A hidden kill switch and removable steering wheel is also another option to consider.

I think it depends on where you will be leaving your car and for how long?

Over night once and a while - Get a lockable car cover.
Every night in front of your home - get an alarm that is loud.
Leave it in a big parking lot for a few hours - get the alarm that calls you.

Just some thoughts but do consider one with a proximitity sensor. They may make the alarm go off when some wind blows the top but it will also go off if someone reaches in the car when the top is down.

I wouldn't leave it out of my sight. Mine almost got stolen with a flat bed
at 1 pm with people around. Good thing I was 500 ft away and watching it.
Verts are too valuable which is good , but bad you can't leave them anywhere.

I'd go with one that calls your cellphone, combined with a Lojack so the police can track it down before it's gone too far.

Leaving a hungry pitbull in it wouldn't hurt either...

Cool Re: conv. alarm?

Two large shepards works for me but I drive a beater with a trashed interior. Lojack is your best bet with seperate battery for radio transmiter. You may not get all of your ride back but at least you will get the pleasure of meeting the people who trashed your ride (car theives can strip them faster than a top fuel team can rebuild an engine).

Talking Re: conv. alarm?

well, I got the one that pages the remote if messed with (and starter disable), along with a 2nd neutral safety switch and 3rd msd switch. I also have my k9 german shepherd partner (if needed in Stockton) and a Glock .40 in worse areas

Cars get picked up with flatbeds all the time. It is amazing that all these guys do is call a tow truck and the tow truck never confirms ownership. I can’t stand leaving my car unattended at all.

I tried to buy a 77 bronco in need of a restoration a few months ago. It was stolen a couple of weeks later. The tow truck left tracks and the owner had an idea who may have taken it so they drove by the guy’s home. There was no sign of the bronco but there was a set of tire tracks up the drive way like from a tow truck. The home was also for sale. My friend called the realtors number on the sign and arraigned a walk through that afternoon.
When the realtor let him in he poked around then went directly to the garage where he found the bronco.
One thing let to another and the guy who stole it is now in jail and the bronco is back and undamaged. Now the guy will not sell it to me.

Question Re: conv. alarm?

Yea, thats why I have 24 hour recorded surveillance in around my house... And no, Im not paranoid. I was a police officer and used to take my patrol car home. One night someone hit and "ran" into my patrol car... Ever since, ive had the surveillance system. My shepherd (Gunner) was my partner, so he would let anyone coax him out (maybe with a female shepherd, u gotta wonder...lol)
