Default What's this copo worth?

This may not be the right forum but I had to start somewhere. I have a friend who might come into his possession of a 1968 copo,original,52,000 miles, ZL1 Alum. 427, 4 speed, silver with black stripe, snowflake emblem. What's this car worth? Garage kept in great shape. Runs good. Thanks

you might want to post this in copo and dealer. For the most part, the guys who would know only hang there.

As for value, it depends... proven original drivetrain is worth a lot, especially a ZL1. The guys who play here like good docs and certifications. Not enough to say it's real, gotta get a stack of expertys and attoreys to prove it.

You sure on the year?? 68 would not have come from the factory with a ZL1 engine. But 69 would have. Also if you get the VIN number you can check it against the ZL1 VIN listing at http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/show...0/page/0#76000

Notice the top of that list shows the Cortez Silver cars

Can you get the Cowl tag and VIN info?? Pics would be neat as well, any paperwork with the car? Protect-o-plate (POP) window sticker??

Also any idea on where it was sold new??

There was somebody trying to sell a 68 COPO car a couple of years back. He claimed to have documents with it but never managed to produce them for potential buyers. I think the car was an LA built car too. So if this car is really a 68 and not a 69, tell your friend to be very diligent in researching it before buying. Most of us would say that there is no such thing as a 68 COPO 427 car so you would need some bulletproof documents. If the car is actually a 69 then check the VIN against the list that Jeff linked in above. I think there is a silver 69 car in PA with a ZL1 motor in it for sale. It's not a real COPO but rather a nice clone with a real ZL1 motor. As for the value, who knows.

I doubt if it is a 68 COPO? ALL 68s were Norwood cars ordered by Don Yenko. The number is probably 70 with 6 of the last 8 being nonconverted. Value wise? Who knows? If it is a 69 ZL1 probably over 500K? If it is a 68 COPO I would not even venture to guess since there are only two non-converted cars. There is one Yenko Camaro Z-28 Stormer out there somewhere and It is 1 of 1. I don't know how you would put a value on something like this? All depends how bad a collector would want the car....
