Hello everyone I'm in the need of some big block motor mounts for a 67 396. I've been doing some reading and it seems some fit and some don't?? Any advise on where to get them and about how much they should be? I've seen some ridiculous prices. Also heard about some that won''t let your engine raise up if they go bad. Think these came out in 69, but if ther'e thicker i have no room to spare between the hood and air cleaner.

I got mine from Ricks First Generation. Mine is a 68 though. They cost around $18 for both.

Do you have the big block frame mounts? They position the motor lower in the frame.

agree with fiveforty -- big block frame mounts are shorter than the ones used for a small block, so you need to check that you have the correct frame mount and motor mount --- I had to change the big block frame mounts on another Camaro I built in order to drop in a 350 motor

Nope, taller and tilted.
Please go over to David Pozzi's great site and check out his pic's of what you need. I bought NOS BB frame mounts years ago and poly "rubber" engine mounts at all three locations and I am so close with a Holley 3310-2 and a Strip Dom that I am running a 14" drop bottomed breather and a 2" filter along with a 7/16" wooden spacer ring on it's bottom to keep air flow OK. Not the best but like said, too tight otherwise for my just SS hood. pdq67 |
