i have a crappy 2 piece drive shaft on my 96 3800 v6 and i was wondering if a 1 piece from a v8 would fit ?

We used to do this to Holden Commodores (Aussie) as a cheaper opition to the expensive 2 part stock units. They had to be well balanced. but worked just as well and lasted for ever, where as the 2 peice units where nortorious to wear and cause vibration.
Make sure that u leave enough play for diff movement on the yoke at the trans.
