Is this optional camshaft too powerful for a 302 motor without a crossram setup?

What do you mean by too powerfull? It's really a terrible cam for anything but a car that operates in a 6 to 8000 RPM band and not much else.

I'll agree with that, driving my car is a lot like piloting a two-stroke dirtbike. I love the idle, though. It sounds like a drunk guy trying to hit a punching bag LOL But I'll get outrun by a VW microbus until about 4,000 RPM, then you might want to be holding onto something.
BTW, I finally brought the camera home, I'll have your header pics tomorrow.

Crane is re-popping them so I wouldn't get exited.

I thought about going with the "140" cam one time as well. I contacted Jerry MacNeish (1st generation Camaro Guru) and asked him the same question. He said the 140 cam would work OK as long as you had steep enough gears, and quality ignition to prevent plug fouling. He also said an M-20 wide ratio was actually better than the M-21/22, because of the steep 1st gear needed to get the car rolling from a stand still.

Jerry should know about steep gears - he runs a Jerico with a 3.29 1st gear and a 5.57 axle - he's into second LONG before the 60-foot light.
