I have a 1985 Z28. It recently got rejected for state inspection because the steering wheel has a tiny bit of play in it. Does anyone know how to tighten the steering wheel? The steering column is tight its just loose at the pivot point for the tilt wheel.

I have seen the GM columns loosen up at the tilt pivot point alot. Had to fix about four of them already for myself and friends. Its no fun. you have to take it apart until you get to that pivot point and there are I think four screws that have to be tightened up. Haven't done it in a while but I am pretty sure that is your problem. Put some loc-tite on the screws also.
