I have an wierd question. My 14 inch air cleaner is hitting my HEI unit. I am running a Performer (#2101) and an Edelbrock 1406 carb. I suppose I could put on a spacer to help clear the HEI, or just put on a smaller air filter/element. What is the best answer here. I ran this same setup on another vehicle I had, and had no problem. Has anyone else ever had this happen? 1967 with 350, cowl hood.

The lower part of the air cleaner is basically sitting right up against the HEI.

there is a offset air cleaner base for just that.....you may try it and see if it will work with your cowl hood clearance

Edelbrock also sells an air cleaner that is raised 3/8". This is intended to get the base off the electric choke and the fuel line, but will probably also clear your hei. Check edelbrock.com for the part number. They list a 1/2" spacer ring as well.
