I am wondering how hard is it to add a/c and a tilt steering wheel to a 69 that did not come from the factory with either. Is there an after market place to get the stuff? Do you have to find a used tilt steering wheel? Any ideas on the cost?

Vintage Air has a good system for air conditioning costing around $1,000. State of the art stuff that blows COLD air. As for the factory tilt wheels I don't know what they go for but I think after market ones are about $400.

I am in the process of installing a tilt wheel column into my '69 right now. I am using a column from a '79 Trans-Am I had in storage. The column to firewall mounting plate on the '69 column is simply bolted on and is easily moved to the new column. The '79 column had the plate spot welded on so it had to be ground down and removed. The turn signal and ignition wiring looks similar so that remains. Right now, the biggest problem is the column to steering box coupling.

The old column has a rag joint end and the '79 column has a double d end (looks like a circle with flat sides). I am in the process of gettng a rag joint made that will couple the two types of ends. I believe that is about $90. You could probably get a second generation F-body tilt column for less than $100 dollars, if you can find it. I will let you know how it goes.

Keep in mind that Rick's First Generation www.firstgen.com lists used tilt columns for $235 with limited availability. You might want to check with them first.
