The only thing that jumps out at me are the 400 rods. At the very least make sure you put high quality aftermarket bolts in them. It's not the rod LENGTH thing so much to as the fact that the 400 rod isn't known for being the stoutest piece, although many have used them without a problem. Sounds like a stout street motor to me.

It's a decent combo, but if it were mine I would have went for a 200cc head with a 64cc chamber. Make sure to put ARP bolts in the rods as mentioned above.

Check out this month's chevy high performance. They just tested 8 different sets of heads on a 383, and the results were eye opening. The 215 CC darts did pretty good with the xe274 cam; 450 hp and 468 ft lbs. However, they said that these heads really shine on a larger displacement sbc, over 400 c.i. and that a smaller cc head would be better suited for a 383. That xe284 may hurt your low-mid range torque as well, but it would probably make more peak hp than the xe274.

I would try to get the compression up to about 10.5:1 with that cam and those heads.
Other than that just makes sure the rods will be strong enough. Those pistons tend to be on the heavy side.

I don't think 400 HP will be a problem. Should be more like 425 IMO.
