on my 69Z the gap between the deck lid and the rear panel measures .25'' on the drivers side, the passenger side gap measures .50''. Is there a way to adjust this out? The .25 side looks about right, is it?

yeah 1/4 in sounds about right, how does the deck lid line up with the quarters? maybe the deck lid is twisted? check the rubber stoppers, and the spring tension rods to make sure they are in the same notch, also if there is a spoiler on the deck lid, once i had a deck lid that fit good until i put the spoiler on then it tweaked the lid out of shape? not alot but i noticed it.

You can adjust the deck lid by loosening the bolts that attach it to the hinges. Loosen, move the 1/2" side to 1/4" and re-tighten. As the previous post stated, you will need to check the other gaps on the deck lid as well and adjusting the gap you are speaking of will affect the others: it will open one deck lid to 1/4 gap and close the other. You will also lose any amount you move the deck lid where it meets the end of the 1/4 panels and also deck lid to tail panel.

Be sure to loosen or remove the trunk latch. If the latch is misaligned, it will cause the deck lid to become misaligned once it latches closed.
The way I did it was to remove the latch bolted to the tail panel. Loosen the bolts on the hinges. Hold the lid down and play around with it until you are happyt with the alignment. Raise the lid just enough for you to get under it to tighten one bolt on each side. Close again to make sure you didn't change the alignment. If it's ok, tighten the other two bolts. Now that the lid is centered, reinstall the latch and play around with its position until the lid latches down with no change in position. I'm not an expert, so it took me about an hour. |

The alignment is good all around the trunk. It's just if your looking at the car from the rear you can see the difference in the gap on the rear edge of the trunk lid.
