As some of you know, I work at Kennedy Space Center for NASA in the Safety Division. The STS-121 Shuttle Mission is scheduled for liftoff at 3:49 PM tomorrow afternoon. We'll all be here working the launch.
We have a tremendous amount riding on this mission. STS-114 had far too many problems and we REALLY need this one to go flawlessly. There is talk that any major problems could permanently ground the Shuttle fleet and essentially mothball Kennedy Space Center until the new CEV program comes on line. I must admit there are those of us, especially in Safety, that have concerns over the rigorous schedule that was met in preparing for this flight. Let's all hope those concerns are unfounded. God Speed STS -121 !! Here's a link to the mission status page.... http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/sh...ain/index.html |

Yeah, what Jim said.
I was glued to NASA TV for 3 hours today only to have Mother Nature call it off. I was glad to hear the weather was the only "problem" you guys had. That is good news. |

Markr,
Must be a cool job. I have a 73 year-old music composition student that was an electrical engineer at NASA working on the Apollo moon shots. It's really cool to hear him talk about his days there. God speed on the launch. -Chad

Yep, we had finally sucessful launch today.
And it was a beautiful one. I haven't heard any complications yet, so far so good. I was at the OSB II building again today at the VIP site. This is one of the closest and best observation sites on center. Lots of Congressmen and Senators around again. No Vice President this time though. Go STS-121 ! |
