Default Flywheel, Clutch, Pressure Plate Ques. ('68 396 w/Muncie_

...question on (factory original) flywheel, clutch and pressure plate for a '68 (Camaro) 396 w/Muncie trans.

Am I correct?, ...for the Big Block application, this would be the 14" flywheel (168 teeth) and an 11" clutch/press. plate?
(...and I do have the '621' bellhousing...)

Also, ...does anyone have any recommendations for for a clutch kit? (ie. brand, source, etc.) This is going in a show car that will be casually driven not raced...

Thanks,
Kevin

You are correct on the parts. Also, you'll need the correct starter and flywheel cover for the 621 bellhousing.

If the car isn't a daily driver, use the Centerforce Dual Friction set up. If you drive her a lot, you might go with the Centerforce II. It's said the DF is a bit harder on flywheels but has 90% more holding power than stock. The II has 60% more holding power than stock.

But either has a light clutch pedal which is easy on clutch linkage and your lower body.

I use CF in four of my cars,..highly recommend it.

Centerforce is a real good clutch but a bit pricey, and you probably dont need the performance it will offer, i've been using a street clutch by ZOOM . SUMMIT and JEGS sells them for a little over $100 for everything. used 3 of them so far with no problems, real smooth and they grip great. I put one in my 81 Z/28 with a nice little 350 and tremec 5 speed and beat it to death.....no problems. ZOOM offers 3 varietys. Stick with the street clutch, you'll love it.
