I recently purchased a 69 Z/28 with a Dark Green base interior. The car has a set of black base seat belts that are dated right for the car. Could these be the original belts, or should they be Green?

The good folks at The Carmaro Research Group knew you were going to ask this question so they provided a table with footnotes just for it.

Scroll down to the Interior color for 69's and then look at the footnote for Midnight Green interior. Check the build month on your cowl tag and I bet it falls into the group for Black seat belts.

Guess that holds true, my 12A , code 723 are dark green .

My belts are 18A and it is a May car so it looks like Black is correct.

my belts are dated 18-A-69 my tag is dated 05C. Just a Corvette guy trying to learn about my new Z/28. I will catch on sooner or later.

I'm going to throw a monkey wrench in this (I think, if I'm reading this correctly).

I'm an 11C/723 and my seat belts are black. Correctly coded for Nov. 68, and I've cleaned them very thouroughly.

Hmm...

Is there a reason why my belts would be black vs. green? Was there some sort of option or could this have been a substitution at the factory?
