Default new best MPH/ideas i have

Well its not a big improvement but i went 116.05 MPH on the big end. Thats up from 115.5
I was having a serious issue trying to get the car into 3rd and not 5th on the 2/3 shift. I worked on that mostly, got it down sort of. Durring all this i was working on jetting and got in the area it needs to be, it could probably still use a bit more.

If i can get this thing to 60' and hit my shifts it would be a consistant 11 second car. My best run was 12.20 @116 with a 1.85 60 foot.

Now my ideas are to get some Cal tracs, and split Monos. Then if im still bogging im thinking about a 25 or 30 lb steel flywheel to replace my 12 lb hays aluminum. Any sugestions?

What traction device do you have now?

I just switched from slapper bars and cheap shocks to the complete Calvert set up; bars, split monos and Rancho 9000's. I don't have it dialed in yet but to be honest I think I could have gotten where I wanted to be with the Rancho 9000 adjustable shocks alone. I never used to "believe" that high dollar shocks would make that big a difference, but they do....

I run some mangled up slapper bars right now with poly bumpers.

Wink Re: new best MPH/ideas i have

I would at least start out with the rancho or better shock then if still not happy go with the caltracs! Also i don't see enough starting line gear ratio to use the lighter flywheel. I used to run 50/50 shocks and slappers with 12.4 e.t. and 1.76 60 footer ,now run caltracs with rancho shocks and best is 11.64 with 1.54 60 footer at 115.4 mph! This is with your tranny, ram rag clutch.4.10 gear, 30 lb. billet flywheel and low torque 327. JMO and good luck and keep an update on progress! later, AL

I ran slapper bars for 7 years on my 10 second bracket car and switched to the split mono, caltrac, rancho deal and picked up nothing but a lot of top end stability. My car goes 130+mph and now feels like its going 75 !!!! "before it felt like 175mph" My 60's are unchanged but i may have picked up a little consistancy on marginal tracks. When removed my slapper bars were bent up pretty bad......not even E-bayable
