Anyone here go to the 8/27 Pomona CA swap meet last sunday?
There was a unrestored Burnished Brown 1969 SS 396/375 car there that the owner claimed was a documented real COPO car. He was taking offers on the car and had claimed to have turned down 80K for the car already. I guess he is waiting for Barrett Jackson money to sell the car. I don't know much about COPO cars, but I thought they where all 427 engines? Why would you need a COPO for something that is a RPO? |

It's either a NOM motor, or it's not a COPO. 80 would be cheap for a documented COPO, original motor or not!
However, the L78 and L72 look almost identical, except for the block casting number and, I the oversized taps by the oil filter for an external cooler. |

1968 Yenkos were COPO/9737s and came from the factory with a 396/375.

I did not get the number as I am not in the market for such a high dollar car.
Plus it wasn't advertised as for sale, it just had some printed and laminated information cards in the windshield kind of like premarketing for Barret Jackson. |

do you remember what gears this 69 Camaro was built with?
There was a COPO 9511 that would get you factory installed 4:56 gears. The RPO could only get you up to 4:10 gear. In a way, you could call a factory installed 4:56 gear or 4:88 gear Camaro a "COPO car" as it would show on the original window sticker and/or other documentation. |

Sorry, no idea on the gears.
I really don't have COPO or B-J money to spend so I didn't spend much time on this car. If it was a car show instead of a swap meet I may have looked a little closer. Pomona is a huge swap meet much like the Hershey or carlisle PA swap meet, only it lasts one day. You really have to move if you want to find what you are looking for. If I see it again, I will get more info for the board. |

COPO9737,Was the BV 410 Gears part of the COPO package for your 1968 ss396/375 4 speed Camaro? What was the Standard Gear for your 1968 ss396/375 4 speed car,3:55?

a quick look at the trim tag might tell ya. They (9561) were either X44 base or X11 style trim, maybe a couple outside of that...no SS copo's ever built...no 396/375 in 69 & only 2 LOS built copo's-(from what I've heard) both Burnished Brown, 1 of which died in a fire and the other was in TN for a while. Wish i'd had enough $$ to keep my Roger Dean BB copo...love that car & the color my scuncio copo had SS emblems added in the 90's because the new owner thought it looked too plain. 80K seems pretty strong unless restored to some degree...or a survivor with it's original BE rear. Mine's listed for sale here for 75K with over 3300 views, but I still have it. Still in semi-race configuration & non original drivetrain (originally bought to race & thrash), so that's probably why. |

Burnish Brown is a uncommon color for sure! Back in 1976 I bought a original Burnish Brown with Original Black stripes 1969 Camaro Z/28 body with Black Deluxe comfortweave interior and 373 posi 12 bolt.Original 302 was gone so I put a Solid Lifter 396/375 motor in it.The Burnish Brown Factory Lacquer paint was Super nice and look very koooool...Always keep hope I'll find that awesome Camaro! I still have my old NJ registration with vin number.
