when I bought my 67 R/S it had NOS full 1/4's installed, it has a vinyl top, but no rear chrome trim for the back window. I looked and I found the little clip holders on the top ad like 1 on the side near the top, but other than that there is nothing, theres supposed to be 12 of them , I only have 6 , is there ANY way short of tearing the car up to get somthing in there to hold the clips, or should I just contact cement them in ...

If Im reading this right, your missing the little studs that hold the mldg. clips on? If so, and the rear window is in, it has to come back out(if you want to do it right). Ive seen some guys rivit the clip on and some guys have gone as far as to get the correct type rivit that when rivited on, it duplicates the same stud as the original and you slide the clips back on. I wouldnt glue them down, what if you need to pull the mldgs back off at a later date, they will get ruined.

Chris,
My repro quarters did not have the studs as well. I used the screw-in type available from the restoration houses. Truly the best way to do the job is to remove the window as mentioned and install the studs or rivet the clips on. You will thank yourself later. If you use silicone or something similar you will have nightmares trying to get the trim and the glass off of the car. R&R'ing the glass should only take an afternoon with the help of a friend. ------------------ Click here to see see my car and hear 5-speeds. http://www.geocities.com/casanoc |

Be careful, that rear window is VERY expensive to replace. Almost $300!!

Hi there marson makes both the rivets and the piece that screws onto the rivet gun to duplicate the factory studs on the original qtr panels. Just take your time and measure and mark them carefully and they will work out perfectly. All for under 10.00 have fun.

did you ever see the stud guns used for dent pulling?they spot weld a stud on the metal so you can pull it with a slide hammer.well these guns also have an attachment to spot weld the studs on that the window clips go on.it works nice and you dont have to drill holes in your window channel for rivets.A body shop would probably do it pretty cheap if you take the glass out. http://members.spree.com/entertainment/ochrisl/

I didnt know that you could pop rivit them in , thats what I will do , I guess I will buy both versions of the clip holders and see what works the best. of course I have not a clue where they go , and My assembly manual doesnt show diddley. maybe theres a template with the kit.
who carries them, classic industries, firewheel? paddock? and what are they called?> thanks! ![]() ------------------ Chris's 67 RS can be seen at http://www.geocities.com/macphreak4evr/index.html JOIN THE CAMARO NET WEBRING! www.geocities.com/macphreak4evr/webring/webringjoin.htm !!! |

There are 5 pieces to the rear window mldgs., yes??? Put 3 on each side, 1 at the top and bottom and 1 in the middle, put 5 along the top, 1 at each end so as to hold the mldg down at the ends and space the others out evenly and I would put 3 on each piece on the bottom, 1 at each end and there will be 2 in the middle about 2 inches apart so as to hold the mldgs. down in the center at the other 2 in the middle so as to hold the mldg. down in the center. When you rivit them in, and before you put the glass back in, stick a screwdriver or something of the like(a scraper or putty knife)between the clip and pinchweld and slightly loosen up the clip so its not so tight against the pinchweld, that way all it takes is a small amount of pressure to install the mldg. instead of having to smack it and possibly denting it. Also, before you rivit the clips on, treat the bare metal with something so it wont rust out(the hole that you just drilled).
