Default Voltage regulator .......isolated?

Does the voltage regulator on a 69 Camaro have to be isolated with rubber grommets , or can it be bolted directly to the firewall?I'm keeping everything stock if that helps. Thanks in advance for the vast storehouse of knowledge on this site.

69 bolt directly to the radiator support. 67, 68 use the rubber grommets.

You might place an internal star washer underneath on of the chassis feet to pormote a good ground path.

When you get done mounting and plugging in the regulator, measure the continuity from the reg chassis to alternator case, should be less than 1 ohm of resistance.

Just to be clear, the regulator case MUST be grounded on all years. 67-68 use rubber well nuts to mount it, and require a separate ground wire from a predrilled hole in the regulator case to the rad support. 69's did away with the wellnuts and expect the reg to ground through the mounting bolts. Use a star washer, between the reg and the rad support, to make sure.

I presume the rubber mounts were to isolate the buzz from the radiator support.
