Default wireless routers antivirus

Hey is the anti virus protection that comes with the Linksys broadband router enough to protect my computer that currently has no anti virus protection ? It is a second computer that I haven't used in a year but now is hooked up to my ( daily driver computer ) other PC like a network.

Your Linksys router has a basic software firewall in it. The router is preset to allow normal internet communications to pass transparently and is pretty wide to cover all common internet transactions.

All of your PC's that plug into the router are all sitting at the end of that pipe to the internet and you should have additional anti virus software on all of them.

What Steve said. No, a router antivirus is not enough (not by a long shot). You still need an AV client installed on every computer in your home/work.

What Tropher and Steve said.

Install an AV client on each and every 'puter. There are a couple of free ones that work well. Avast and AVG come to mind in the "free" category.

I tried but couldn't get AVG to load , but Avast did and it seems to be a nice AV , thanks.

I recommend "Spyhunter" By Webroot. I love it!! It blocks garbage sites and while virus' can be crippling, the biggest threat to security out there is Spyware. A friend of mine did not believe it until his computer got infected with spyware. I spent nearly 2 hours on the phone with him and I helped him find the problem. The next day he bought Spyhunter and it killed the spyware. It's relatively cheap at what $19.99 or $29.99?

Think of ot like this on a first gen Camaro do you want to depend on an idiot light for oil psi and engine temp or do you want an actual gauge? That's how Spyhunter by Webroot works. It's awesome!!

For free stuff adaware is great!!

Good Luck!!

Why pay when SpyWare Terminator is free and superior? And if you have a legal copy of XP, MS Defernder is free also.
