I tested the Performer RPM vs. the Vic Jr. but I don't think that's relevant for you. You are probably looking to compare different single planes I guess?

Why would the intake effect mixture at different RPM's? As long as the distribution is even cylinder to cylinder you should be able to tune through any RPM related issued with HS air bleed changes (possibly emulsion holes if the bleeds don't do it).

Not sure what carb you are running but you could start with a smaller HS bleed -- I had a similar problem with an annular booster 800 Mighty Demon and wound up going from .040" down to .0285" on the HS bleeds to flatten the curve out.

PS. You may want to verify your fuel pressure before messing with the bleeds . . . sounds like you have a killer fuel system but you never know . . .

The fuel distribution can be bad on some single planes, (dont know what you did
as for porting, but did you do any plenum work - you can fix it or make it worse)
A 1" open spacer will help fuel dist. problems, but a 4-hole will make it worse.
Dont know if that has anything to do with it going lean? you sure its not the carb?

Since youre makin decent power, I'd go with a Super Victor, or Motown, either
will be good on a street/strip 406.

Greg, what was the result of your testing the RPM vs. the Vic Jr?

So far I like the Vic Jr. I'm running. Buddies 383 w/ a Vic Jr. at 10.2X's has been woking for him also.

I am running a annular booster 850 Mighty Demon I change power valve to 2.5 and jets sizes to 90 & 97 in the back. On my intake all I did was port match it to the heads. I think I'm going to play around with the air bleeds and I also just got a Wilson 1" spacer I'm going to put on. ????

Dirt, For me the Victor Jr. worked best. I lost maybe .01-.02 on the 60' but picked it up and then some by the 330' and beyond. I gained some nice MPH too.

I will say that others have had different results (much better 60' with the RPM) but I did not. A lot of it depends on your converter. A dual plane makes a lot more torque below the torque peak RPM but a single plane will out perform it above torque peak. My combo at the time had a torque peak around 4500. My stall then was 4200 so I spent virtually no time below torque peak so the single plane out performed it dual plane. If you have a tight converter the dual plane may work better for you.

I really could not tell any drivablility difference either. The theory is that a single plane will not be crisp off idle but mine is fine.

Thumbs up Re: Intake For 406 SBC

A holley 300-25 with a 2 inch spacer or a victor jr with the spacer is a nice set-up. Both run quick for me.

Greg, thanks for the reply. I too run a Vic Jr, I was just curious as to how it stacked up against your RPM intake. Looks like you got it working great for you.

Victor Jr is an awesome intake, has a lot more bottom end torque capability than a lot of people give it credit for too, the only down side if there is one is the runner size/cross section seems to cap off around 550hp; I made my best pulls with my '358 with the victor jr (550hp on it's best tune), but when we built the '427sb this year the super victor made serious power gains- put it this way, between tests we raised the compression just under 1pt, and went from the super victor ported by Wilson, gained over 60hp! 1pt of compression should have been around 3%, or 15-18hp of the gain, So, if you are running a big cc head and large roller cam, you might even want to test a super victor. Street manners are still very good too.
