Has anyone replaced/upgraded thier distributor. I wanted to install an HEI but it will not fit due to clearance issues with air cleaner and firewall and I'm not cutting the firewall. What have you guys used?

I have a 73 Z28 and I have 2 different distributors… An old electronic Accel and a original 73 (for an auto / 350) that is gutted and stuffed with the Pertronix electronics. I don’t like the big HEI stuff either.
I sure like this new forum … It rocks!!!!

Gut out the old one and replace the points with a Crane pointless system. It only takes about 15 minutes and it will perform the same or much better than HEI. I can say, I`m running a 502 CI in my `69 Camaro with no regrets.
