I just came back from the body shop that is doing some work on my 67. I was concerned about the way the lower part of front fender did not line up too well with the newly installed rocker. There is about 3/4 of an inch difference, which you can see in the picture (I hope). He said the rocker is on as it is supposed to be, so what can I do to fix this.

My question is are both sides like this? I would not except that kind of work, make them cut out and start over, were the doors on with glass in them and lined up? The rocker should be even with the bottom of the fender, when the fenders are bolted up,only recourse would be to extend fender and I would not be crazy about doing that at all! Were the repro rockers to long to start with? Even if the car is a driver I would not go for that, poor workmanship!Everthing should have been test fitted before welding up solid!I will send you a e-mail picture of my car how they should fit.mine is a 69.

Yes, but the picture shows the worst side. I left him a message to call me. This is not good.

Seems to be. I just talked to him, and he said that there is no way to correct this with the way the rocker is made.

Has the fender been repaired before? Like a lower section welded on?

Maybe someone can give him a measurement from the line to the bottom of the fender on a 67?

I think the problem has been found. It seems as though the panels that the seller supplied to me with the car were not full panels, but merely the slip on panels that are available. I did not know this, and while my body man should have, he didn't. The rocker panel "covers" are designed to fit over an existing panel. As luch would have it, the shop next to the body shop had two rocker panels (the guy is a used parts dealer) and sure enough, I was able to slip my panels right over the one from the shop next door.

So, my car has one skin welded on, while the other one has been removed. The second one will be off in a few hours. I do not know how much the parts guy is going to charge me for the rockers, as he was gone before I made the 20 mile drive (second one today) back to the shop to see why my car was so out of whack.

I think we have it figured out, I hope.
