Default 69 Ss

I work at a car dealership and Monday there was a young couple in there. One of my co-workers came over to me and said that his customer wanted to talk to me. I got up and walked over to them and he said, "Now tell him what you have." The youg lady started describing her vehicle to me. She said she has a 1969 SS Camaro with 50,000 original miles, 350 with a 4 speed tranny. I think she said it was silver metallic paint and had been garaged kept, really great condition. I don't know what she gave for it, but she was interested in selling it. My co-worker knows I sell stuff for people on ebay and have a street rod myself, so he assumed I would know what it was worth. She said it had an aftermarket radio in it and the tach didn't work. I gave them my number and told them to let me know when they get ready to sell it. I was just curious what a vehicle like this was worth. She said a local Chevy dealership told her it was worth around $30,000 and that was kind of what I thought but just thought I would see what some of you have to say. I know the information is limited, but I was in the middle of a deal myself and had a quick conversation with them and got back to my desk. I never got their number so I will have to get it from my co-worker tomorrow. I want to believe she said it was a convertible but I'm not 100% sure on this. I was off today, but will call them tomorrow and get some more info on the car. Thanks for your time and I will post more after I talk to them again.

Yeah, I read that, the whole five pages. I assure you my friend I'm being honest, but I can see where a post like that can make you gun shy.

a 69 cortez silver ss vert is 30k if it will move under it's own power without the occupants shoes dragging on the pavement. 50k if it's solid and looks good.

Thanks for the reply JImM. What would the hardtop version be worth? I forgot to mention that it is a numbers matching car.

Thanks,
Mitch

A sweet unrestored original is, IMO worth more than an fully restored car. However, condition is everything. If the motor and tranny are original, AND it is as nice as she claims, AND it is a convertible, I'd say $50-60. $30 would be a steal.

hmmmm. I'd like to see this car.

Kentucky? Can't be too far from me. Find out if it's a vert, let us know.
If they are serious about selling, I'll drive down, but I'd hate to spend a full day and gas $$ if they are just wondering "what they have"

See if you can get some pics.

I called and left a message, as soon as I get the info I'll post it. They might list the car on ebay, not for sure yet.
