I saved it and coincidentally came in when the auction had 2 minutes to go and almost fell off my chair. Yea, why?

Maybe it was the high bidders original 302 block? Or very close. Or maybe a bidding war? Unmolested DZ blocks are getting hard to find, i mean GM only made 20,302 -69 Z28,s. If i had a orignal car missing the original block i think that would be cheap IMHO, considering what these cars are selling for these days!!!!!!!!!

I don't know but by God I bought one a month ago and only paid $1000 (I did put a bid in of $2500 but it only went to $1000.) and it is std bore with a legit verified DZ stamp... and NO Vin anywhere...

I brought that block up on this thread.

If it was my block I would have paid the ransom.

It's the real deal in my opinion. Thats why it went for big money. There are alot of restamps out there. Finally refreshing to see a real one for once.

I could understand the high price if it was the original to your car, but why would someone else (who doesnt have the car) be willing to bid so high also?

Thumbs up Re: 302 block

Good luck on the new DZ block, now your Z has an original DZ motor. $ value on your car does not go anywhere but up.

That's got to be someones block...$7100! God bless them if it is, it's like finding your long lost child after 20yrs!
If not, then maybe soneones working on a very big $$$ fake?
Makes me want to try and find my vin on a DZ block I have! It's near the oil pad, but what a son of a gun to see...very lightly stamped. any tricks to getting it to appear?
I was told that Muriatic Acid would help, as it's not really that harsh, I did use it to clean-up some shifter rods and the numbers came right up with no damage to the rods! Just scared to use on a real DZ block. What do you guys think?...Hope I'm not hijacking the thread...sorry if so. I would like to just find the owner of the car, then I would prob sell all the DZ block stuff to them! Thanks. Dave.
