Default First Camaro Ever!!

For years I have wanted a 67-69 convertible Camaro, but with 4 kids I just didn't see that in my future. Well lo and behold the last one is out of school, and a sweet (needs some work) 68 blue with white top just happened to find me at a car show last weekend. Thankfully my wife is a good woman and she agreed that it was time. I cleaned out the other side of the garage and as we speak she is making the whole house look a lot better. I am sure that I will have a million questions, so be prepared. My first question is what books do you recommend for me to buy in order to learn how she was put together, so I can replace both interior and exterior parts.

A BIG HELLO TO EVERYONE!!!

Welcome!! Sounds like a nice car to start with! Please post some pictures....The first book I would get is a factory assembly manual, it should answer most of your questions. If you can't find it there, that's what we are here for! Good luck...Mike

Thanks everyone as I really appreciate the welcome, and yes I will be posting pictures as soon as I get the time. I have already found (if I can remember where) a place to get a factory manual as well as a owners manual. They seem to be reasonably priced, but everything else that I have looked at has been higher than gas. I looked at a set of new deluxe seatbelts, and they were over $400.00. H*ll for that price I will make like Jethro and use a piece of rope to tie us in. Looks like a good washing of the old ones is in order. For the most part the car is in good shape and a nice driver so I can enjoy it while I make the changes that I want.

Thanks again to all,
MGRII

Make a list and check the classifieds here as well as local swap meets. I've even found a few decent deals on ePay. You just have to setup some automatic searches and take your time. If you're like most of us, you'll enjoy picking up a few parts at a time and tinkering as much as driving.

Welcome to TC. If you do want to clean your seat belts, remove them from the car, spray them down with Shout or Spray and Wash. Use a soft bristle brush to remove the dirt in between the fibers. Use a garden hose to remove the suds. Let them air dry and reinstall. I have washed them in the washer before with a couple of old towels to keep the noise down. The wife may not like that method.

Welcome to TC! Congrats on the kids leaving home and the new ride!! Anything you can think of regarding your car is here at TC!! Perform some searches in the interior department on seatbelts/cleaning etc and you will find more help. I like to find interchangeable stuff at my local pull a part junkyard...

Welcome to the Club! At least you have the correct year. Ask away with the questions, we'll be happy to answer them, regardless of the subject matter.

Search function does alot also.
