Default Powdercoating!

Well, it seems Craftsman sells a powdercoating gun & setup... http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...seBVCookie=Yes

I was wondering if anyone has tried this, or anything like it. I want to get my wheels powdercoated, when I thought to myself that for the price I'd pay for that, I could buy myself the kit and a crappy electric oven, do one wheel at a time, save myself a ton of $ (and maybe make some cash on the side).. and probably do a better job too.

Any thoughts?

Default Re: Powdercoating!

my friend bought the kit from eastwood and it does a nice job, the improtant part is surface prep, the stuff he tried to coat with pitts and rough surfaces didnt turn out that great.
he has a bead blaster to clean up the parts and it works well on the smooth stuff.
he powder coats just about anything that he can stuff in the oven with good results.

We have a local powder coat shop that gets all my business. They do the prep work too and for a fair price. Ask somebody for a quote. You might be surprised.
