Default Firefox Issue

I have downloaded the new version of Firefox 2.0. It seems that the browser window has to be reset each time I use Firefox. I tried to add a history and bookmark icon to the toolbar but each time I log out and then go back, the changes I made are no longer there. What am i doing wrong. I hate this new version.

Default Re: Firefox Issue

Ya know, I had those exact same issues with the previous version - 1.5 something or other - so I uninstalled it and installed V2 and the issues went away. My PC had crashed while FireFox was running and hosed it along with a couple other things that were running.

Uninstall it. Then make sure all previous versions are uninstalled using Add/Delete Programs. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to Program Files and look for any instances of folders named Mozilla or FireFox. Delete them all.

But before you do, FireFox backs up your bookmarks for the previous 5 days or something like that. Very smart of them. Save them somewhere before uninstalling and deleteing those things FIRST. I forget which folder under Mozilla (or FireFox) that they're in, but you won't be able to miss them once you see how they're named. They'll be named something like "Bookmarks 11-28-06" and have several dates representing subsequent backups.

Once I deleted all folders that are left over after uninstalling the program, I was able to have proper functionality. There's nothing wrong with V2 of FireFox but it IS a totally different program from previous versions. You'll want to go through the Preferences and check all the settings and make changes accordingly.

Tried that, didn't work. It still does the same.

I was running the 1.5 version of Firefox until I read this post. I downloaded 2.0 then uninstalled 1.5 in Control Panel , Add/Remove programs. Rebooted the computer and then installed 2.0 without problems and its been fine . I also set it under Tool,Options,Tabs from the top menu to open in a New Window because the tabbed pages would close the browse down. You can set the warning for the tab closing in that same area under Tabs ...
