Default Retro Rides co-owner Dennis Palombo - hybrid Camaros

I just saw this great article on http://www.chevyhiperformance.com - I searched here but do not see that this was already posted

It shows how you can take the current reproduction body panels for a first gen Camaro and mate it with a 4th Gen Camaro chassis to have one hell of a nice street car.

http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/te...y_kit_install/

Excerpt:
Quote:
Take one ’02 LS1-powered Camaro and one ’69 Camaro complete outer sheetmetal kit from Goodmark Industries, assemble them carefully together, and what do you have? A hybrid supercar with total fourth-gen performance underneath and ’69 Camaro looks up top. This cool idea started when the folks at Retro Rides in Spanish Fork, Utah, were bench racing about how much amazing technology the fourth-gen F-body has. The incredible handling, precise steering, superior antilock brake system, quick acceleration, and interior comfort all surpass that of older Camaros. But admittedly, the classic style of a first-gen Camaro was missing from the later-model cars.

That article sparked some discussion over at pro-touring.com a while ago. Think most agreed that while that concept can be great, these guys execution of it and price is less than stellar. Case in point is the routing of the turbo...

I can see that. I just like the concept of being able to put old bodies on current chassis/powertrain setups.

I used to think the same thing about the STS Turbo setup, but a few guys who are using them on F bodies and trucks are very happy
