Default Engine and rear end from ZL1 #66

There is an add on eBay for the original engine and rear end out of ZL1 #66. Just thought I'd post it for further review.

Better read it quick, because if the engine turns out to be real.
The discussion will go private.

Hard to have an original numbers matching car if someone else has your engine and rear.
Hope it is not real, cause someone could be in big trouble.

The story does seem a little far fetched for sure, but I have heard wilder stories.
Back then - No one ever thought the values would be like they are.

Might be as simple as someone saving the tags from a crushed car.
Or, someone stamping an engine from a car - thought to be crushed?

Or something more serious - grand theft auto.
but at the time of the theft...not so grand. interesting to say the least.

either way - someone may be spending serious money to get out of this one.

If you steal something worth a few hundred dollars, and then 20 years later...
it is now worth a few hundred THOUSAND dollars.
Which crime did you actually commit? felony or misdemeanor.

Well, the man who has it is open for people to see it. sounds ok to me. if he is willing for people to view it and see with there own eyes its a true ZL1 then i dont think hes trying to bull**** anyone,
just my 2 cents..

Pat McGroder 1969 ZL1 Camaro was silver, saw it in person along with his other BB musclecars.Pat is a well known attorney in AZ ,believe he is originally from the NE,NY.I know he was building this collection called "Factory Muscle" for a place in Scottsdale AZ.Pat ended off selling his collection.I can tell you he had 2 guys that I met at his storage warehouse in Phoenix that were fulltime caretakers and restorers of his cars.I remember my friend XXXXX in AZ that got me in there telling me he had a friend with some cars. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think it was these awesome cars!!! One word,UNBELIEVABLE!! By the way I knew it was something special when my buddy pulled up in front of the place, fence with barb wire and gate with intercom.I did ask 1 of the full time restoration guys how Pat found all these cars and he said he had guys through out the country looking for them.By the I talked to Pat on the phone back then, listed under attorneys in Phoenix AZ.One of the cases he was known for was a win against Ford for the gas tank explodeing on a 1996 Crown Victoria Police car when hit from behind. McGrober working for the Law firm of Gallagher and Kennedy PA represented Jason Schechterle,a Phoenix Police badly burn in a 1996 Crown Victoria Police car.McGrober has represented many Phoenix Police Officers and their family's.The guy from CT should just pick up the phone and call Pat! Oh yeah,if the CT guy does have the REAL 66 ZL1 motor he should contact ED Cunneen with the assembly code right below the date code on the ZL1 motor. When I found ED Cunneens original ZL1 block in PA,I called Ed and he asked what the code was even though his vin number was stamped on the block down by the oil filter....

I wonder if the statute of limitations has expired

In some States prosecutors cannot prosecute for a robbery beyond six years.
One legal web site states…….
“The length of these statutes varies from country to country, state to state, or province to province, and often depends on the type of civil action or the seriousness of the crime.”
“Statute of Limitations”
“Stipulates the statutes of limitations on specific crimes. While murder, for example, can be charged at any point after the crime was committed, other crimes are limited to a set amount of time following the incident in question.”

Disclaimer ……..I am not an attorney and do not play one on TV or internet

68 Baldwin, is Pat's silver car the "current #66" or were you just name dropping?

I find it REAL ODD that 8 pages of posts on yenko.net contain NOT A WORD regarding factual info on a car in Arizona that is said to be #66 with original drivetrain."....

Edit: Kinda disconcerting to have to moderate out my own remarks... End of edit
What do you think, is the auction a fishing expedition?

(let's try to keep this one clean, ok? While I am personally very interested in this and would like to see more facts come out, any nastyness or persoanl attachs will be ruthlessly stomped.)

That is exactly what I was thinking, but I was afraid to say anything.
Didn't want to start a war.
Some of those guys take more exception to "who" is saying then what they say.
Thanks Jim, glad someone else saw what was happening.

I would really like to see some pictures of the #66 engine and tags- the ones installed in AZ.
Don't think that is going to happen, and really I don't expect it to. This is serious stuff.
Not really something to be hashed out on a public forum.

How do you do that popcorn emoticon?

I suspect it's gonna be awhile before we see resolution to this one...with a lot of semi-random guys taking pot shots in the interim.

Party A and Party B will be speaking to each other through lawyers not via an internet forum. The tight-lippedness evident in the other forum seems to indicated to me that A) Really no one knows anything, or B) Those in the know have closed ranks...I vote B.

"Is this a fishing expedition?" Here's my version of what happened/will happen:
I think the engine guy lost the car, lost the paperwork, and never filed any police report and probably has no valid/provable claim to the car (assuming he did really have it at one time). I'm taking him at face value. He is simply selling the motor and rear not trying to make a play for the #66. The #66 guy will buy the motor and rear and figure out which one is supposed to be in the car...
