Hello all!
My friend and I dyno'd our cars recently. I used a jvc mini dv camcorder, he used the newer ones that record to mini dvd disc. Wanted to post them online. I used moviemaker to capture vid on jvc then edited and hosted on putfile....no problems. On his setup he gave me the dvd (finalized)but movie maker will not accept the dvd files. I tried to capture it the same way but it says "no capture device found.....") but it is hooked up as I can use media player to play the disc while its in the camcorder and connected to pc. Do i need to fix the part where it wont recognize capture device or just put dvd directly in to pc and convert to windows useable file (avi, wmv, mpeg etc)? If so what are your recommended dvd to mpeg/avi/wmv converters? I still prefer to capture from camcorder as I heard ripping from dvd to mpeg can take hours. (sony handycam , mini dvd-r, usb interface to pc) Thanks in advance! Ray |

Here is your problem. You need to hook it to the PC via a firewire cable and not USB. What other outputs does the Sony camera have besides USB? It just might have a firewire port on it.
Converting a DVD to WMV is PAINFULLY slow. Even on my machine with dual core and 2GB of RAM. I never found a decent piece of free software to convert DVD to MPG/AVI/DIVX etc. so I bought a tool to do it. You might want to check out www.divx.com Last edited by CFunK; Jan 2nd, 07 at 03:16 PM. Thanks Cfunk! I was doing a bunch of research online and also ran across the firewire recommendation. I will try that the next time around. I was able to convert the file by using vob2mpeg, then nero with dolby digital 2 plug in to avi, then used movie maker to adjust file size LOL! Here are the vids: My camaro 451HP 455TQ at the wheels sae (92 octane E10 pump gas sbc) http://media.putfile.com/DynoDay-12-2-06 My friends cobra 648HP 535TQ AT the wheels. belt started to slip so did not reach anticipated boost level, replacing automatic belt tensioner with a manual one shoud fix that(103 oct race gas, He made 601HP on 92 pump) http://media.putfile.com/cobra-on-dyno Both cars are street cars with a/c, pwr windows, locks, steering etc..... Thanks again Chris, Ray |
