Default 327 cam selection

got a stock bottom 67 327 with 601 305 heads, performer rpm, 650 vacuum sec, 1.5 rockers, current cam is a speed pro .468 .480 hyd 220/231 dur, lsa 110 rpm 2200 to 5700rpm 304/287 avg dur. the cam was originally bought for a 305 i use to run and it ran real good surprisingly till i spun a bearing and i had the 327 short block sittin there so i slapped the heads on and used the same cam. im now lookin for a solid lift cam to go with the rpm range and compression of this motor

Default Re: 327 cam selection

See my other post..

And fwiw, a hy-cammed about 9.75 to 10 to 1 CR. 327 engine will run like a "scalded-dog" with no more than a........

CC 268HE and 270 Magnum;
Crane/Cam Dynamics 272/272 Energizer and 274H-06; and an
Isky 270 Mega....

Notice NOTHING fancy here at all...

I personally like the smaller solid cam's b/c the little motor likes to rpm!! At least up to 7,000 rpm with good springs like no more than a cheap set of Z-28, (i.e., -142), springs...

Smile Re: 327 cam selection

That should be them! Some places list .490" and others, .510"..

Or try Competition Products and Midwest Motorsports. MWM's stock dia. shorter Elgin springs are them..

Summit too I figure. They run like $25/set!! Excellent value to me....

The 1970 and later, LT-1 springs that went with the old -178 solid cam are in here too but usually they are about $10 higher per set... Go figure???? Still good value to me tho!!
