Another queston I left out... I'm doing a complete overhaul on my steering and suspension. While waiting for my parts to come, I cleaned & stripped the frame and crossmembers up front. Is there a good etching primer available in a can? I know the proper way to do this is to take it to a shop, but that will be a year or two from now when I get ambitious enough for a frame off. I just want to seal it up well and get a fresh coat of paint on it. I also need to do the suspension components. Any suggestions on what to do with the A-arms? I just had them hot tanked & bead blasted. I want the most durable coating I can put on them. They are still off the car so I can take them somewhere if necessary, but the front portion of the frame I have to do myself.

shawn,i did mine with POR15: i did the frame and upper and lower control arms. looks real good and very durable. if you do get this stuff buy it in the small containers(6 pack) as its much easier to work with.

Hi shawn The only company that I have seen that sells eching primer in a can is martin seynour available at napa stores the product also goes by the names, acme,sherwin williams.If you can't find it and its for a frame or such use a two part eching primer and a brush. but use it.Have fun.

Mar-Hyde also sells self-etching primer in a can, around 12 bucks a shot. I'd recommend the POR though.

Some auto body & paint supply shops will laod paint in an aerosol can and pressurize it for you if they don't carry a similar product already (particularly the older shops). That way you can choose a quality product (they'll help you) and still get that Krlon convenience!

I'VE USED SHERWIN WILLIAMS SELF-ETCHING PRIMER IN A SPRAY CAN AND IT WORKS GOOD. I GOT MY LOCAL BODY SHOP TO ORDER ME A CASE OF THIS STUFF FOR ABOUT $8 A CAN. IT'S A HELVA LOT EASIER THAN MIXING, CLEANING, ETC. WITH AIR COMPRESSOR FOR SMAAL JOBS.
