I am getting ready to repaint my '67 the original Bolero Red, but want to use a two stage paint. Can anyone provide me with the PPG code for Deltron DBU?

Thanks in advance for the help. I can't wait to have color again.

I'm guessing that you need a Deltron mixing formula, not the paint code "R" for Bolero Red??

When I needed a formula for '68 British Green Metalic, I contacted PPG at this address:

http://www.ppg.com/cr-refinish/phase1/frmContactUs.asp

They told me that they only ever supplied my color in acrylic laquer but that they could provide me with a formula for any paint chemistry I wanted. Within 24 hours, they e-mailed me back with what I needed, and the results are awesome! The paint looks great and is tough as nails.

Thanks Paul. That is exactly what I was looking for. I will try the same procedure.

Angry

I thought I would post the results in case it is useful to anyone in the future. PPG responded with the following information:

This is the offset (close match) for Bolero Red
The original is not availible in DBU

This is a pint formula.

Main Layer: 71663
Price Code: H
MSDS: DBU2
Revision Date: 12/11/1997
Code Description Cum.
DMD617 ORANGE 178.50
DMD670 VIOLET 246.10
DMD652 RED 307.20
DMD647 STR. BLACK 311.90
DBX695 CLEAR 557.60

Hopefully the "close match" is really close.

Cool

Thanks for this post!
You just saved me some work. I'm at the same point with my Bolero Red '67.

By the way, Bolero red has always been difficult to match exactly, even in lacquer. I would bet they had a lot of production color variation when these cars were being built.
