I hope someone can help. What do some of you recomend for headers for my 80 Camaro? Looking for someone that is happy with something they have used and would buy again. Full length, shorties, coatings? Any help greatly appreciated. Motor is a 400 small block, 350 auto tranny.
Might also be interested in some good cast original style manifolds if anyone can recommend something. Thanks, Marty

One of our members has hooker super comps (1 3/4" I think) in a 406 powered second gen. They fit real nice.
Maybe Tom D will chime in?

I had Try Y's in mine, they were cool. Jegs headers are fairly cheap and they work just as well I noticed.

For the Hooker Supercomps, one side (right or left, can't remember which has the larger scrape ...) is lower than the other. Sanderson (So. San Francisco based company), http://www.sandersonheaders.com/, makes a neat "shorty" header system for these cars.
Bought a set for my '68 SS but haven't put them on yet. You'll need to fabricate the rest of the exhaust to fit but any good muffler shop can get it done. Cheers, Mary Pozzi |

Marty:
Unless your car only runs at the Track, I would advise against Super Comps for the street. Full Tube Competition Headers are very nice and provide more ground Clearance and generally install and fit without having to unbolt motor mounts and better clearances for Starter, Oil filter, Side Kick Pans ... etc . When ordering specify that your car is either Manual, Automatic, Column or Floor Shift. I've always liked Headman Full tub Headers myself which are a fraction of the price of Super Comps. You can instruct to have the Headmans shipped to "Jet Hot" Coating which is considered Best on the market. I believe Both Hooker and Headman Full Tube Headers are Identical. Just my opinion ))
