Dyno'd @ 452 HP @ 6100 RPM. In 69 Camaro w/3.73, at 1000 Ft. altitude, 11.80's @ 117. All day long! Driven 55 miles round trip to work 5 days a week for 8 months. Driven to and from track ... "You don't need cubic money." I've been doing this a long time and it bugs me that alot of young guys are talked into spending more than they have, to go fast. Bitchen rods don't make H.P. Steel cranks are made to survive at high RPM. Make torque! The horsepower will follow, AND the engine will survive .... Great Combo - Try It!

The car is a 69 Z28. The ET was 11.9 sec in the 1/4. The engine is a 406 SB running 11.7:1 compression. Heads are heavily ported GM 461X castings porting was done by AFR, 62CC chambers hence the high compression. I'm running speed pro flat tops, hydraulic lifters, comp cams CS-292H cam, Edelbrock Victor JR intake, Holley 850 DP, and Hooker supercomp headers. All of this flows out a dual 3" Flowmaster system. The Tranny is a TH400 going to a 12 bolt rear w/posi and traction bars. The above stated time was on 255/55 R15 Race Master tires. It's drag days are over though, it's getting turned back into a street bruiser. See link below for the before and after pictures.

  • 1968
  • Engine: 350
  • Transmission: Turbo 350

    Combination:

I recently bought a ZZ4 Crate engine from gm. I have to say I have fell in love with this engine. I opted for the "hot" cam and the 1.6 roller rockers. I have a built TH350 which works. I'm running 3.55's through a 10 bolt rearend which has held up pretty well. With headers and 2 1/2's back through a crossover and dynomax muffs, Got a ticket when I had flowmasters. I've got a Offenhauser Dual port 360 manifold which I highly recommend, its given me tremendous throtle response and a good get up and go feeling. With this combo I've ran a 12.9 on street tires, and would hope it will run low twelves with slicks.

David Koberfrom Colorado Springs has a really nice '68 Camaro!

  • 1968
  • Engine: 327
  • Transmission: Turbo 350

    Combination:

When the engine was in its first configuration it ran a best of 14.70. This was with a carter 650 cfm AFB (the predesesor to the Edelbrock carb). The intake was also Edelbrock, the performer. The piston are flattop trw's with a .040 over bore. The heads are just what I had laying around, the combustion chambers are about 78cc and they have really small valves (1.74 intake 1.50 exhaust). I think this puts me at about 9 to 1 comp ratio with the flat tops. I run Hooker Headers and 2 1/4 pipe with a set of turbo mufflers. I have a 350 turbo with a shift kit and a 3.73 10 bolt posi rear end. With a simple rebuild and cam change (everything else is the same). The cam is a dual pattern, at .050 the sur. is 240-245 the lift is .504-515. I am now running consistant 13.10s through the mufflers and with street tires. I have had it as fast as 12.99 at 107mph. I removed the inner fenderwells and sway bar, I also run old shocks up front to get the front end to rise! to help with traction. Of course I am not done I plan on putting a converter and better gears in it. I also intend on getting better cylinder heads.

Hi there! I've owned my LT for almost 5 years now, and I love it. I have yet to make any modifications, being that she's my daily driver, plus money is tight. One day I'll get me a Honda civic, and begin work on my Camaro. I just wanted to make a suggestion, you should show pictures of these sweet rides. Reading about someone's combo is nice, but having some pics to go along with that is icing on the cake. Just thought I'd put my two cents in, so start sending in those pics. As for me, hopefully next time I'll be posting my baby's combo, and specs.

I agree with Vinnie Coppeto who has his combo listed, you don't have to spend a pile on a short block. This one sees 7500 each run with no problems yet. I have at least 70 runs and a lot of street time on this motor and no grenades yet.
