I added a custom flare to my '68 RS... sequential turn signals / brake lights.

Here's the part list:

2 - 12V Delay Relays @ 2.24 each
4 - Piranha LED panels @ 2.55 each

Plastic spacers, diodes, resistors, wire, solder, screws, heat shrink and time.

Not as fancy as Digitails but a whole lot cheaper, under $20 bucks!

Here's a quick Youtube vid taken last night.

Sorry about the quality, it was freezing rain and I wasn't taking her out of the garage. :noway:

Yeah pull one together and we can pow wow about sticking it. Looks like the perfect freezing rainy day project.

How does it behave with the hazards?

I didn't take pics along the way but I could do a "how to" some time this week. Fairly simple diagrams.

Wife thinks its just bling for the Camaro, she just doesn't get it.

Thanks for liking the project. :D
It's a safety item too  And for $20 or so... who could complain ?

Here's a quick Photoshop mock up of the installation.
Not included are the 1" square X 3" UHMW plastic blocks used for spacers. The blocks will need to be sanded on one side to 3/4" to fit the bottom of the backing plate.

You will need an electronic flasher. I already had one in the Camaro from previous LED usage.

The relay is adjustable to it takes a bit to sync them up to each other. The relay was wrapped in heat shrink then zip tied to the back of the backing plate.

All connections are soldered and heat shrinked.

Any questions? Fire AWAY!

this is great info I'm wanting to do this on my 69 bird and the Digitails are just too pricey IMO I know LED lights are cheap and run mostly on 12V i just hadnt made the time to do the research Thanks Tmax68! I just ordered the parts and if no one else post up a how to with pics I will when I do mine. a sticky for all LED upgrades would be nice - how about it Mod?

Still waiting on my diodes, but the housings are done..these panels are BRIGHT! I never got an answer on red or clear leds above, so I went with clear.

using a 12x12 sheet of ABS plastic off of amazon, I made brackets.

The panels were perfect size for the housing.

I used a hole saw to make grommets for the wires and to seal the housing

Winning.

I had initially made a panel that put the panels really close to the stock lens, and you could count the LEDS using bright spots, setting them back deeper in the housing gave it a much better look IMO

got everything installed today

http://youtu.be/HpxuV4kx45o

only one problem that I ran into was I cut loose the old tail light plugs and my car was a standard car at one point.

we when I resoldered the connections I hooked it up and could not get the passenger side to work tried everything possible

short version is I hooked up the wire to damn reverse light wire on that side

in my defense one wire is light green and the other is medium green

oh well live and learn

Ok, I looked at my wiring diagrams, the flasher is what makes the turn signals blink. So the two flashers are already there, I'm just replacing them with a different flasher?

Also, in the wiring diagram there are just two wires going to the LED panels, one a hot the other the ground, right? My tail light had three, if I follow the diagram, one is for the tail light and brake light, the other the turn signal, and the third the ground.

So I'm thinking as I'm typing, that is a dual element bulb, so the tail lights can be on but it can get brighter when you brake or turn on the blinker. Where the LED panel is basically one light how does it function as a tail light and a brake light and turn signal? Sorry for all the questions but I'd really like to do this and don't want to screw it up.
