Question

O.K. here the scoop .I have my 69 basket case for sale ,not many bites(2 weeks).A guy offers me 2000.oo and works at 500.oo a shot to 3500.00 .my bottom is 4000.00 from 4500.oo
after looking a little more we walk back to his car 70 w/87 454 in primer we talk b/s a bit ,and I say I 'll swap you for this one.
he says he'll think about it .
tonite he calls me says he'll swap me even up his car needs all interior but is straight as I can tell with primer .
my Q is is there some thing I should be weary of ? was 87 a bad year for 454's ?
it has a rebuilt 400 trans,and 2.?? posi rear. I know a 69 is more desireable than a 2nd gen.
is this to good of a deal? http://albums.photopoint.com/j/Album...a=10643347&f=0
parts for my 69,
sub frame bush. all new susp. parts, all new interior covers, door panels, org.307 p/g ,rebuilt 350 /m21 muncie,67 12bolt 3.55 posi apart, new brake lines ,used frt.disc's,new stock daul exh.
body has no major dents less rt.frt. fender.

sorry so long!!!

Depends. Why are you selling the 69? If it's because you're tired of trying to put it together and want something you can drive, trade.
If you don't like 2nd gens (70 is a really nice year and in demand) don't trade.

Having a big block (fun) you can drive vs a stock 307 (not fun) that is in pieces is a big point in my book.

I love the 69 but if I was looking to sell a car in pieces, I would trade in a heartbeat as long as the car is straight and runs good.

Check out how it was converted to the 454 and if the major interior (dash, etc) are sound. Redoing the interior is not a big deal. As long as the hardware is intact.

Just my .02

Iam selling the 69 just due to garage space vs. getting the time to ever get it togather.
as the 70 is a driver and can be moved out to work on something else.
I do like the 2nd gen as well as the 1st gen.
what thing should I be looking for that would make it a bad BB conversion,I know there should be a spacil cross member for the tranny,
the 87 454 is stock other than an intake w/Q-jet,what kind of HP did that year make?
interior has some odd ball seats but everything else is there just rough

he is coming by at 5:00 tonight and wanted to know if he should bring a roll back!

How long before you would want to do the same thing to the 70 that you did to the 69? Don't take that statement wrong, but I went through the same thing. I wanted a car I could drive and not have torn apart.

I found my 67 in running drivable condition so I bought it. I figured I could fix all the little stuff, keep driving it and be satified.Well after all the wiring disasters, overheating, bad brakes, crappy closing doors, etc. I decided enough was enough and tore the car apart, found a body man and took a second job to pay for it all. I'm on the down hill side of it now. The sub frame is painted, the metal is replaced, and it's ready to go back together. I should be driving it by the end of the summer.

Sure you can drive the car you will be trading for, but in the long run will you be happy? Just my .02.

I belive so.
this guy was redoing this car too, body work is done and cut in in porche red.but the interior does need a rehab.I was the one that joked about trading even up ,and was suprised that he has taken me up on it.

I just want to be sure there isn't a "reason" he is doing the swap?????????
but the work looks well done and clean

I believe that the 87 will have the one piece rear main seal. Stock hp is probably fairly low, but the torque should be there. I like the 70 but I dont know if I personally would trade a good project off.

Whoa, I was just peeking through your pics. Whats up with the dash?? Thats a 67/68 in there....????

I guess if you were planning on getting rid of the car and can get yourself to trade it go for it. But look closely to make sure nothing has changed on the car since you last saw it. Later Ryan

It should be in my garage tonite if all goes well,he couldn't get a rollback last night.

car has a bit of a vibration around 80 or 90 but I don't think it's anything serious
