What are some of the differences between the M-20,M-21,M-22?Will M-20 hold up to power of a 427?

muncie 4-speeds are very tough, all should work well with a 427.The m22 "rockcrusher" is the strongest of them all.The m22"s gears are cut different and causes the trans.to make a wining noise.Without digging out my refrence books ,I beleive the major difference between the m20 and m21 is the m20 is a "wide ratio" 4-speed and the m21 is a "close ratio" 4-speed.There maybe some other differences but I don't remember one trans. being stronger than the other.I hope this answers your question

The m-22 muncie from what I understand is the strongest of the 3. With the m-21 or m-22 you will need at least a 3.73 ratio in your rear end or you tear out the clutch in a short time
