I have a 68 that I put a 396 into, I needed to change the motor mounts as well as the springs. The springs are of course the handle the extra weight and I was told you need to change mounts to make sure that everything lines up and is on the right angle. Good luck.

Thumbs up

I'm starting the same thing on a 70 SS. Just dropped the heads off to be worked. I concur, springs and big block motor mounts needed. You might check ebay for HEI. I found one for 200 complete. May need to change radiator to 4 core as well.
