How much of a job is it to drop the gas tank in my 88 IROC? The fuel pump isnt running any more. I had intermittent problems late last season, and now this year it wont run at all (the pump, that is) Fuse is good. Someone told me there is a test wire in the engine compartment? I want to make sure it isnt in the wiring before I drop the whole tank down, but I dont know if I can get to the wiring anyway. Thanks.... John

the best way would be to go underneath the car find the harness going to the tank and check for 12 volt positive, the pump signal will only be hot when you turn ign. switch on it will only stay hot for about 5 sec. the constant hot in the harness is for the gauge, also check for ground signal at that harness,if you have both ground and pump signal then the pumps bad if not then check fuel pump relay and inertia switch. chris

The test wire is in the diag connector under the driver side dash. Some years had it some don't. You would have to check your manual.
