Iím having trouble with the fan shroud on my 73 Camaro Z28 that originally had factory A/C. Itís long to describe but here goes.. I have put a stock fan assembly back on (it had a flex fan w/o clutch assm.). I got this assem. from a 73 Firebird from the junkyard. It is a clutch type assem.( because it had factory A/C) and is the 17Ē fan blade . Now the shroud (a 2 piece unit, top and bottom) will not fit because the fan is too tall for the top shroud piece. Why wonít this fit? Other things that may have a barring on this: the motor mounts have been changed from stock (theyíre chrome and may not be the correct size/ height). Car was in a front end collision some time back be for I owned it, and could the front radiator support be bent so much that it is now so far out of alignment that it has moved down? If this has happened, wouldnít I see things like the fenders and doors not lining up?
As it is now there is about 1-1/2Ē of space from the bottom fan shroud to the blade and the top needs about 1Ē to 1-1/4Ē to fit. I think itís more of the height of the engine (motor mounts) than the radiator support. What do you think?
