Is there any real difference in performance among the aftermarket mufflers. I thought they were all pretty much the same, but according to Hooker, their Aero Chamber, which flows at 441 cfm, makes 14 more hp than a 2 chamber flowmaster and 5 more hp than a Dynomax Super Turbo. But Dynomax claims that their Ultra Flow flows at 1000 cfm which would suggest even more power. Are these claims realistic or just marketing?

It's funny, just about every corporate website, promoting their products, has better "numbers" than their competition. I'd like to see some independent flow testing done to all these performance brand mufflers. Somehow, I don't think they can all be #1......KZ

I too would love to see a full on test of mufflers...especially something online with some .wav files so you could actually hear the differences between them. Don't select a muffler only by its supposed flow rate though...its been proven time and time again that the best flowing mufflers dont neccessarily make the most power.

I also noticed on Hooker's site that the Super Turbo from Dynomax flows at 360 cfm, but Dynomax claims it flows at 410 cfm. I don't know what this translates into as far as power/performance is concerned, but it's just one more inconsistency.
