I own a 69 396/325 HP Chevelle which utilized a single snorkle air cleaner with chrome lid.

I found a 69 396/325HP Camaro air cleaner for sale which looks the same but has a black lid.

The seller said there is no GM part number stamped on it.

Are these uits the same with the exception of a chrome lid for Chevelle, and if so, can I just swap the standard open element chrome lid onto the base?

Thanks

If the diameter is the same, it will work fine.

Here's the air cleaner in question.

Is it a correct Camaro 396/325 and is it identical to the Chevelle 396/325HP with the exception of the lid being black instead of chrome?

The open one is not the same. I do belive that they are the same air cleaner. The crome top was part of the brite trim pacage. crome valve covers and lid for the air cleaner. Hope this helps.

I've got the same question posted on Team Chevelle, they seem to think its a 66-67 passenger.

Does this look correct for Camaro 396/325?

If they are identicle I could always chrome the lid.

If it was correct I would pay it. But after further investigation, it isn't.

Not even close.

My 69 ss396 has chrome cover, open element air cleaner. I have seen a lot of 1969 ss396 camaros and I have never seen one without chrome valve covers and air cleaner.

Check your assembly manual. No BB Camaro used that air cleaner.

More ebay hype.

The base is definately for a 4spd car. Notice that there is no provision for the heat riser on the snorkel. Looks more like a 350/300hp air cleaner. All I can say about the price is try to find one of these for a 4 speed car. They are more difficult to find than the automatic version.
